We use several complementary instruments as a guide to educational and career planning. One of our basic tools is the SDS (The Self-Directed Search) instrument, first developed by Dr. John Holland in 1971 and subsequently revised several times to meet changing requirements. The report produced is based on extensive research about how people choose careers. It also lists possible career options and occupations with their attendant educational requirements and fields of study. The report concludes with a list of leisure activities that may be of interest to the individual and points to other resources that may assist in the educational and career planning process.
